Editor: I see from this paper’s coverage that the Republican Party is coming after Chris Murphy for his stance on the war. Like Murphy, I am opposed to the war, so I am glad he isn’t voting for more money for it.
But I am even more impressed by his efforts on the GI Bill. Soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan need access to a college education – which is becoming increasingly hard to afford. The new GI Bill takes care of soldiers when they return home.
That is the kind of patriotism that I want to see in my representative. So thank you, Chris Murphy.
