Chris Murphy, strong in crisis

Letter to the Editor
Now more than ever, as our economy is suffering the worst crisis since
the crash in 1929, we need a congressman that listens to us.
We got into this mess because of all the subprime mortgages sold to
people that couldn’t afford a home. Some mortgage brokers made a
livelihood by inducing people who couldn’t afford to buy a house to
buy one anyway with a mortgage they, and this nation, couldn’t afford.
Now these defaulting borrowers are causing the financial crisis that
has destroyed just under $1 trillion in assets to date. Irresponsible
lending in order to profit personally by subprime mortgage brokers and
others has caused this debacle.
A lot of people put personal profits above common sense and caused the
biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression. I trust Chris
Murphy to help us get through this crisis.
Why do I trust him? Because I know that he is back here in Danbury
every chance he gets, listening to us, and helping us get answers.
Whether he is holding supermarket office hours, or hosting a town hall
meeting about how to obtain a mortgage you can afford, or get out of
trouble if you fall behind on your payments, Murphy is here, doing
what is best for our community.
He didn’t create this problem, but he is certainly trying to do
something to get us out of it.
That is why Chris Murphy has my vote in the 5th Congressional District
on Nov. 4.
