Chris Murphy became interested in politics while still in high school, and he has moved full steam ahead ever since. Over the course of his political career he has challenged two longtime incumbents and won their seats, earning the respect of his constituents and his peers.
Two years ago he campaigned against a veteran politician and won, based on his promises for change. He, and a group of like-minded peers, has started to make strides – pushing forward a very strong ethics bill, despite strong opposition. However, bipartisanship has been a hallmark of Chris Murphy’s philosophy.
Currently, Congressman Murphy serves on two key committees, Oversight and Government Reform and Financial Services. He has visited Iraq and Afghanistan to meet the people of these countries and decide for himself where our troops and resources would be most effective. Recently, Chris Murphy has played an important role in developing a far-reaching bill on energy policy and ensuring its bipartisan passage.
Although he now works on Capitol Hill, he lives in Cheshire. He frequents local businesses and is familiar with the challenges that face his neighbors and the Town
as a whole.
Cheshire has its voice in Washington D.C. and its voters should fight to keep that connection. Chris Murphy believes Washington is changing for the better, but there is still much to be done. He is a part of the movement to make changes, and he should be allowed to continue his march on Washington with a second term.
