Chris Attends House Party in Avon with Senator Dodd

April 01, 2008

Last Saturday evening, Chris attended a packed house party in Avon at the home of David & Mardelle Pẽna.

Chris was joined by special guest Senator Chris Dodd. Here’s a picture of the two Chris’s getting ready to address the group:

When Chris (Murphy) began speaking to the group, he thanked Avon Town Councilman David Pẽna and his wife Mardelle for hosting the house party, and then proceeded to thank everyone in the room for their unwavering dedication to his campaign in 2006. Many people in the room had been with Chris since the earliest days of his candidacy last cycle, and their tireless efforts—stuffing envelopes, talking to their neighbors, making phone calls—are what allowed Chris to spread his message across the 5th district and get elected to Congress.

Chris made sure to remind everyone that for 24 years, a Republican occupied the seat he currently holds. As a result, he will have a tough re-election battle and he will need everyone to be as enthusiastically committed to his grassroots campaign this year as they were during 2006 in order to make sure that we send a voice for meaningful change back to Washington.

After Chris finished speaking, Senator Dodd cracked a couple of jokes and began talking about how lucky the 5th district is to have someone as talented as Chris representing them in the United States House of Representatives. He mentioned how Chris has already distinguished himself on the national level and proven to be a rising star in the Democratic Party.

Once Chris and Senator Dodd were through talking to the group as a whole, Chris spent a considerable amount of time walking around the room and talking to all the attendees individually.

Everyone left the house party excited about helping Chris get re-elected to the U.S. House, and the Murphy Campaign would like to thank David & Mardelle for hosting a wonderful event at their home.
